About PDF Zone 24

A set of PDF tools that never receive your files. Everything runs inside your browser, on your own device.

What this site is

PDF Zone 24 is a collection of free tools for working with PDF files — merging, splitting, compressing, converting, signing, redacting and the rest. There is no account to create, no limit on how many files you process, and nothing is stamped with a watermark.

The tools are listed on the all tools page, and the guides section covers the problems behind them in more depth.

Why nothing is uploaded

Most online PDF tools work by uploading your document to a server, processing it there, and sending the result back. That is the straightforward way to build them, and it means a copy of your file sits on somebody else's machine — however briefly, and whatever the policy says.

Every tool here works differently. The processing code runs inside your browser, using your device's own memory and processor. Your file is opened locally, worked on locally, and saved locally. It is never transmitted anywhere, because there is no server to transmit it to.

You do not have to take that on trust. Open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and use any tool on the site. You will see no upload. There is more detail in our piece on what other PDF sites do with your file.

What that means in practice

  • Documents with personal or commercial information — contracts, payslips, ID scans, medical letters — stay on your device.
  • There is no file size limit imposed by a server, because there is no server. The practical ceiling is your device's memory.
  • The tools keep working on a slow or intermittent connection, since nothing is being transferred.
  • Nothing is queued, stored or deleted later, because nothing arrives in the first place.

The trade-off is honest: very large files depend on your device rather than on a datacentre, so an old phone will be slower than a desktop. For the overwhelming majority of documents this is not something you will notice.

Who runs it

PDF Zone 24 is an independent site, built and maintained by a small team operating from Pakistan and used mainly by people in the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe. It is not affiliated with Adobe, and PDF is an open published standard rather than anyone's private property.

Questions, bug reports and corrections are genuinely welcome at the contact page.

How the site pays for itself

The tools are free and there is nothing to buy. Running costs are covered by advertising, which is why you will see ad slots on some pages. Ads are served by Google and are the one part of the site that involves a third party — what that means for your data is set out in full on the privacy page.

Advertising does not change how the tools work. It does not get access to your documents, because nothing on this site does. See the privacy policy for exactly what is and is not collected.
